Mercury Grand Marquis Side View Mirror Replacement Instructions

    • 1). Open the door with the side-view mirror that needs to be replaced. Pull off the cover of the inner-door panel by hand. There are small tabs on the back of the cover that press into the inner-door panel. When you pull on the cover, it pulls the tabs out of the inner-door panel. You will not damage the cover by pulling on it.

    • 2). Locate the mirror access cover found inside the door, directly opposite the spot where the mirror bolts to the outside of the door. The cover is plastic and triangular.

    • 3). Locate the wiring harness behind the cover and pull it out so it is visible. Pull the two connectors apart to disconnect the motor inside the mirror from the vehicle's electrical system.

    • 4). Remove the three nuts that secure the mirror to the inner door, using a socket and ratchet. Hold the mirror in place while you remove the final bolt.

    • 5). Pull the mirror away from the door and slide the new mirror into place.

    • 6). Hold the mirror while you secure it with the nuts, using the socket and ratchet.

    • 7). Push the two wire harness connectors together and place the harness back into the door frame.

    • 8). Place the triangular cover on the inner-door pane. Push the panel to force the tabs back into the inner-door panel.
