Selec-Trac Shifting Instructions

    • 1). Turn the ignition to the "On" position without turning the engine on. Place the column shifter on the right side into the "Neutral" position. The "N" will light up on your dashboard. Push the Selec-Trac button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel up to "2WD" to send power to the rear wheels only.

    • 2). Turn the ignition key to the "On" position. Place the column gear shifter in "Neutral." Push the Selec-Trac button on the dash to the middle position of "4WD Auto" to send power to all four wheels.

    • 3). Change the Jeep transmission to "4 WD Low" while you are driving. Slow your speed to two to three miles per hour. Move the gear shifter to "Neutral." Slowly move the switch on the dash to the bottom position of "4WD Low." Move the gear shifter back into the desired position.

    • 4). To place the Jeep in neutral for towing purposes, turn the ignition key on without starting the vehicle. Place the column gear shifter in "Neutral." Press the brake pedal and depress the gray pin on the 4X4 shifter inward. Release the brake pedal.
