- 1). Check the battery and charge if necessary. The battery can slowly discharge electricity over time and without a charge may be unable to start your vehicle. Also check for corrosion on the terminals and clean with a wire brush, if necessary.
- 2). Fill the fuel tank with fresh fuel and use a fuel additive. Over time, gasoline sitting in a gas tank can become contaminated. The fuel additive will help clean the fuel as well as the fuel injectors.
- 3). Change the oil and oil filter. If the Ford Explorer has had an oil leak, there may not be enough oil in it, or the oil may have become contaminated. If there is no oil at all in the vehicle, the engine may have seized. If you believe that this is a possibility, you should consult a qualified automotive repair technician.
