- 1). Print this article so that you can refer to these steps later, as you will later need to close all open programs and windows (including your Internet browser).
- 2). Follow the link in the Resources section, and download the free program called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
- 3). Wait for the download to finish, then close all open programs and windows (including this one).
- 4). Install Malwarebytes to a directory of your choice (typically C:/Program Files) by double-clicking on the downloaded file (mbam-setup.exe).
- 5). Follow the on-screen instructions for installing the program. On the final screen, make sure that both "Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and "Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" are selected. Click "Finish."
- 6). Wait for Malwarebytes to open. When it does, select the "Scanner" tab from the top navigation menu and choose the option "Perform Quick Scan."
- 7). Click "Scan."
- 8). Allow Malwarebytes to finish scanning your computer before opening any new programs or windows.
- 9). When the scan is complete, a pop-up box will alert you. Click "OK" and you will automatically be returned to the "Scanner" tab.

A list of all identified malware will appear. Make sure that each check box has a check in it and click "Remove Selected." If the program requests to restart Windows, allow the restart.
