How to Insert HTML for Special Characters

    • 1). Open the HTML Web page that you want to modify in an editing program. If you do not have an HTML editor, a text editor works.

    • 2). Go to the area where you want to insert a special character.

    • 3). Insert any of the following punctuation and symbol codes into the HTML:

      ¡ - Inverted exclamation point: ¡

      ¿ - Inverted question mark: ¿

      ¢ - Cent: ¢

      © - Copyright: ©

      ™ - Trademark: ™

      ® - Registered: ®

      ÷ - Divide symbol: ÷

      £ - British Pound: £

      € - Euro: €

      ¥ - Japanese Yen: ¥

      ¶ - Paragraph symbol: ¶

      § - Section symbol: §

      ¼ - One-fourth: ¼

      ½ - One-half: ½

      ¾ - Three-fourths: ¾

        - Space: HTML registers only one spacebar entry in any given area. Additional spaces must be accomplished with this code.

    • 4). Modify the letter A with the following:

      Á - Á

      À - À

      Â - Â

      Å - ...

      Ã - Ã

      Ä - Ä

    • 5). Add a cedilla to the letter C with the code

      Ç - Ç

    • 6). Modify the letters E, I and U with the following:

      É - É

      È - È

      Ê - Ê

      Ë - Ë

      Replace E with I or U as needed.

    • 7). Add a tilde to the letter N with the code

      Ñ - '

    • 8). Modify the letter O with the following:

      Ó - Ó

      Ò - '

      Ô - "

      Ø - Ø

      Õ - Õ

      Ö - --
