How to Stop the Windows Firewall Process in Task Manager

    • 1). Right-click on your Windows taskbar. This is the bottom bar on your computer screen; the taskbar is colored blue, if you are using Windows Vista or XP.

    • 2). Click on the "Task Manager" listing. A new window will open up.

    • 3). Click on the "Processes" tab.

    • 4). Click on the "Image name" column to sort the process list alphabetically.

    • 5). Scroll down towards the bottom of the list.

    • 6). Click on the "svchost.exe" process to highlight it.

    • 7). Click on the "End Process" button, located on the right side of the display window.

    • 8). Confirm you wish to stop Windows Firewall, if prompted.

    • 9). Click on the "X" icon to close the Task Manager.
