- 1). Move your boat, via trailer, to a waste collection station or to a dock equipped with a waste-collection hose. In some areas, like Barnegat Bay, pump-out boats bring the suction to you at no charge. Though some stations require a nominal fee to help upkeep the machine, often this is a free service.
- 2). Unscrew the cap from your waste collection tank, specific to your particular model, though often found on deck.
- 3). Place the nozzle to the waste-collection hose into the fitting at the bottom of the tank.
- 4). Hold the tubing firmly in place and have a partner at the collection unit turn the pump on. Turn the lever on the hose, if present, to open the valve and engage the suction. If no lever is present, the suction will begin as soon as the pump engages.
- 5). Keep an eye on the window on the side of your waste tank, to determine when it's empty.
- 6). Close the valve on the hose, remove the hose from the hole and replace the screw cap. Turn off the collection unit pump.
