- 1). Combine 1/2 cup of a non-bleach liquid soap, such as laundry detergent or dish soap, 1 cup of fabric softener, 1 cup of ammonia and 1 gallon of water in a large bucket. Stir to mix the ingredients.
- 2). Add the mixture to a carpet cleaner or spray bottle.
- 3). Run the carpet cleaner over the carpet. Alternatively, you can spray the solution directly on the carpet. Use a carpet cleaning brush to scrub the cleaning solution into the carpet. Press a water-dampened cloth over the cleaned area to absorb any excess soap residue. Allow the carpet to air dry.
- 1). Combine 1 gallon of hot water with 1 cup of a biodegradable liquid soap in a bucket. Allow the soap to fully dissolve in the water.
- 2). Add 1/2 cup of 1 to 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into the soap mixture. Do not use 35 percent hydrogen peroxide or it could discolor your carpets. Stir the ingredients to mix them.
- 3). Add the mixture to a carpet cleaner or spray bottle.
- 4). Run the carpet cleaner over the carpet. Alternatively, you can spray the solution directly on the carpet. Use a carpet cleaning brush to scrub the cleaning solution into the carpet. Press a water-dampened cloth over the cleaned area to absorb any excess soap residue. Allow the carpet to air dry.
- 1). Combine equal parts water, vinegar and baking soda. Mix the ingredients well.
- 2). Dip a small scrubbing brush into the mixture. Scrub the mixture into any carpet spots and stains.
- 3). Allow the mixture to dry on the stain.
- 4). Dampen a soft cloth in water. Lay the cloth over the stain and cleaner and push downward to absorb the stain cleaner residue. Continue until no more residue is lifted. Repeat as needed until the stain is fully removed.
