How to Improve Windows XP Network Performance

    • 1). Log in to an account with administrative privileges.

    • 2). Right-click "My Network Places" on the desktop. Select "Properties."

    • 3). Click "Advanced" and choose "Advanced Options." Click on the network connection you want to improve performance for in the list of connections. Press the green "Up" arrow on the right side of the screen to move the connection to the top of the list.

    • 4). Choose the "Provider Order" tab. Click the provider for which you want to improve the network performance. Press the "Up" arrow to move this provider to the top of the list.

    • 5). Press "OK." Close the "Properties" window.
