- 1). Disconnect the negative terminal from the car battery using the adjustable wrench, to avoid the potential risk of a short circuit or electric shock.
- 2). Remove the trim panel around the stereo and climate control. Pry the trim panel away from the dashboard with your hands, starting at the bottom and working your way up to the air vents. Pull the loose panel away from the dashboard.
- 3). Remove the 7 mm bolts holding the stereo in place using the socket wrench. Remove the stereo from the dashboard housing. Disconnect the wire harness by pushing the tabs on the side and pulling the connections apart. Unplug the black radio antenna cable. Place the old stereo to one side.
- 4). Install the faceplate adapter. Connect the faceplate adapter to the radio installation sleeve, clipping it into the allotted slots. Slide the radio into the radio installation sleeve.
- 5). Connect the wiring. Plug the black radio antenna cable into the radio antenna port on the back of the new stereo. Attach the wire harness adapter to the wire harness of the new stereo. Push the connections together until they click into place. Attach the other end of the wire harness adapter to the Colorado's wire harness in the same manner.
- 6). Slide the radio unit and faceplate adapter into the dashboard housing. Push it in as far as it will go. Secure the stereo in place with 7 mm bolts. Snap the trim panel back into place. Turn on the new stereo to test the installation.
