    • 1). Place a container underneath the drain plug at the bottom of the outdrive on the upper unit. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the screw on the plug. Remove the plug and drain the gear lube into the container.

    • 2). Use a socket wrench to remove the mounting bolts that fix the outdrive in place. Lift the outdrive away from the upper unit and move over to your work area.

    • 3). Remove the bolts that fix the water pump housing on to the side of the outdrive unit. Pull the water pump housing away from the outdrive and place it to one side.

    • 4). Slide the impeller away from the spindle. Apply a small amount of grease to the spindle and the new impeller. Slide the new impeller onto the water pump. Place the water pump housing back onto the outdrive and secure it in place by attaching the bolts.

    • 5). Place the outdrive back below the upper unit. Reattach the mounting bolts in order to secure the outdrive in place. Attach the gear lube entry tube onto the bottom of the outdrive. Fill the outdrive with gear lube. Place the drain plug back on the bottom of the outdrive and secure in place by reattaching the screw with a flat-head screwdriver.
