How to Remove Gum From Car Carpet

    • 1). Place 3 or 4 ice cubes into a plastic freezer bag. Press the bag to remove the air and seal it tight.

    • 2). Place the bag of ice directly onto the chewing gum. Let it sit there for five to 10 minutes to harden the gum.

    • 3). Scrape off the brittle gum from the carpet with a spoon or spatula. Chip away at the gum until it is broken up into little pieces.

    • 4). Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to pick up the broken pieces of gum. Continue chipping away at the gum and then vacuum the carpet until the gum is gone.

    • 5). Moisten a rag with dry cleaning solvent to remove any last traces of the gum stuck in the fibers of the carpet. Dab the gum spot with the rag and dry cleaning solvent until it is gone.

    • 6). Combine 1 cup warm water and 1/4 tsp. mild dish soap in a bowl. Dip a rag into the soapy water and scrub the affected area of the carpet to remove any residue from the dry cleaning fluid and the gum. Blot with a dry rag to absorb excess moisture.
