How to Clean aThrottle Body

    • 1). Locate the air intake tube for your engine. It will be a rubber tube about 3 inches thick that runs from the air box to the engine.

    • 2). Loosen the hose clamp at the end nearest the engine using a ratchet and socket or a screwdriver.

    • 3). Pull the hose off the engine side and secure it away from the engine. This will expose the throttle body.

    • 4). Push the butterfly, the metal plate, inside the throttle body, and hold it open with your fingers.

    • 5). Spray carburetor cleaner into the throttle body and scrub it with a toothbrush. Wipe the scrubbed throttle body with a clean cloth.

    • 6). Repeat Step 5 until the throttle body is clean.

    • 7). Reattach the hose to the throttle body and tighten it down with a ratchet and socket or a screwdriver.
