- 1). Disconnect the battery negative terminal using a wrench. Remove the accessory belt by using a wrench to move the tensioner away from the belt while the belt is being removed. Remove the bolts that secure the alternator to its bracket using a socket. Do not detach the wires, just move it aside. Remove the alternator bracket bolts with a socket and remove the bracket to gain access to the pump.
- 2). Place the drain pan under the radiator drain on the bottom of the radiator. Open the drain plug with the pliers and allow it to drain. Remove the water pump pulley bolts with a wrench and remove the pulley. Loosen the hose clamps on the hoses on the water pump using a screwdriver. Pull the hoses off.
- 3). Remove all the bolts in the water pump with a socket. Remove the pump. Clean the mating surface on the block of all gasket material. Spread RTV sealant on both sides of the water pump gasket. Place it on the new water pump.
- 4). Install the new water pump and tighten all the bolts. Install the water pump pulley and tighten the bolts. Install the alternator bracket and tighten the bolts. Install the alternator and its two bolts and tighten.
- 5). Install the accessory belt by using a wrench to move the tensioner to the side while installing the belt. Once installed, allow the tensioner to operate. Install the negative battery terminal back on the battery and tighten with a wrench. Close the drain plug on the radiator using the pliers. Pour the antifreeze from the pan back into the radiator
