- 1). Backup all data you wish to save from your computer to an external device, blank CD or blank DVD.
- 2). Place the Windows XP disc in the optical drive and restart your computer.
- 3). Press any key to boot from CD when prompted to do so.
- 4). Allow the setup program a few minutes to initialize. When prompted, press "Enter" to start the setup, then "F8" to agree to the terms and conditions.
- 5). Delete each of the partitions listed by pressing "D," then "Enter" or "L" as instructed. Press "Enter" when the only choice left is "Unpartitioned space."
- 6). Format the disk using the NTFS file system by choosing it from the list and pressing "Enter." Be patient, as it will take several minutes.
- 7). Don't press any keys when prompted this time; instead, allow the computer to continue to boot. Follow the prompts to provide your name, region and language settings, time and date, product key and password (if installing Windows XP Professional).
- 8). If asked for Network and/or Modem Settings, choose the default response.
- 9). Upon reaching the Welcome Screen, follow the onscreen instructions to finalize installation.

Activate Windows as instructed when you reach the Desktop and are prompted to do so. Installation is complete when you finish.
