How to Change Out a Fuel Filter on a 2002 Chevy S-10 Crew Cab

    • 1). Drive onto the ramps. Shut off the engine.

    • 2). Slide the oil-container pan underneath the Chevy's oil filter. Remove the filter and gasket with the filter wrench. Drain any oil in the filter into the oil drain pan.

    • 3). Rub a light film of oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter and install and tighten the filter with your hand. Twist the filter a three-quarter turn with the filter wrench after the filter touches the engine. Do not over-tighten; over-tightening may damage the rubber gasket.

    • 4). Lower the car. Raise the hood and add a quart of oil. Check the oil level using the dipstick. Close the hood.

    • 5). Dispose of the old filter and oil at a quick lube, repair facility or service station.
