- 1). Restart your computer and hold down both the "4" and "6" keys during the reboot. The 64-bit kernel will now be enabled. If you prefer a more automatic method, continue to Step 2.
- 2). Navigate to the following folder on your OSX operating system:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist - 3). Edit the following file:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string></string>
Change it so it looks like this:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>arch=x86_64</string>
Close the file and reboot your computer so the 64-bit kernel option will be enabled. If you don't want to edit your files manually, continue with Step 4. - 4). Download the K64Enabler program from the program website. Click on the "K64Enabler 1.1" file under the Download section to save the file, then double-click the file to run the Mac installer.
- 5). Select the K64Enabler from the Apple program list and click on the button labeled "Enable the 64-bit Kernal."
