- Your digital pen comes with a charger, special paper and software for handwriting recognition and processing. You must dock the digital pen in the pen's cradle when you are not using it. The cradle is the charger. Make sure the digital pen is firmly in the cradle for charging and transferring of data to your computer. Leave the digital pen "on" or "active" so you can easily write with it, then transfer the data to your computer by placing it back in the cradle. Note: the digital pen is not designed for writing long passages of text. Transferring large passages of text takes a long time for your computer to process, especially if your computer is older or your system is low in physical memory.
- Test your digital pen, the paper and the computer the device is connected to before using the equipment in a demonstration or presentation. Test the device by starting the software and writing on the paper. Make sure the device works like it should. If the digital pen is not working, troubleshoot by restarting the software and/or computer it is attached to. If the device is still not working, change computers if possible.
- Your digital pen uses a special type of paper that comes in a variety of sizes and types---a certain type for writing and one for printing. Turn the paper for writing so it is in landscape format on your work surface or desk. This will put the "controls" on the right. If you use the paper in a portrait orientation, your writing will be sideways.
- If you are working with the digital pen and the device freezes, shuts down or stops recognizing your writing, close the pen's lid and reopen it. You will notice the digital pen's software will pause for a moment. Wait until you see the software display "Session Closed" or similar wording, then try putting the software into "Standby" mode. Tap the digital pen to bring it out of "Standby" mode so a new session will begin. This problem usually occurs if you stop using the digital pen for a period of time.
- Write legibly so the digital pen's software can recognize your handwriting correctly. If you normally write fast, slow down and form each letter completely. Do not retrace letters unless you hear a buzz from the digital pen's software. This buzz means the software did not recognize the letter you just wrote. You will then have to write the letter again. Be careful when you are writing G, J and U. G is similar to the number 6 and the letter C, J" must have a line drawn on top to differentiate it from T and I. U" must be rounded to keep it from looking like V. Do not use a hash mark on 0 and 7. Make sure you square off the number 5 to keep it from looking like S. Also, square off Z and the number 2.
