Location

• Your Dell laptop's on/off switch should be located just above your keyboard, under your screen. Some models have the switch on the front of the laptop, where the blinking lights are located. It will have a symbol on, or next to, it that looks something like this: "φ".
  
  

Use

• There are several functions for the recycle on/off switch. Typically, holding the button is used to turn the laptop's power on and off. Quickly pressing it while the laptop is on puts the laptop into sleep mode.
  
  

Troubleshooting

• When troubleshooting your laptop, you may be asked to recycle the on/off switch. This is due to either adding or removing vital information to the system; it allows the system to restart itself with the new information.
