- 1). Clear anything off the inside sill of your Viking vertical sliding window and remove any treatments such as a shade, curtains or blinds using a screwdriver and pliers.
- 2). Pull off both the interior trim and exterior flashing using a pry bar. Wedge the pry bar between the inside trim and outside flashing and the walls and pry toward you, removing the flashing and trim. Set the trim and flashing aside to reuse, or dispose of it if it is no longer needed.
- 3). Cut the caulking spread around the inside and outside of your Viking vertical sliding window with a utility knife.
- 4). Stick masking tape to both sides of the vertical sliding window in an "X" shape to prevent the glass from shattering and falling out of the frame.
- 5). Unfasten the retaining screws in the window frame using a screw gun. Go outside and insert a pry bar between the window frame and wall. Pry the window out of the wall carefully to finish. You can now install a new window in the rough opening.
