- 1). Cover all of the letters and numbers with a card or a piece of paper to serve as a block. Move the card or paper slightly to the right to reveal each letter or number in sequence. This will help considerably when typing an extremely long series of characters, preventing missed or duplicate character entries.
- 2). Make special note of whether the master product key is in capital letters, lowercase letters or a combination of capital and lowercase letters. If all letters are capitalized, turn on the "Caps Lock" key on the keyboard so all letters are entered capitalized. Enter every letter and number exactly as they appear, using capital or lowercase as necessary.
- 3). Observe closely any letter "O" or number "0" in the master product key. The numeral zero (0) will appear more vertically oblong as though a "goose egg," while the letter "O" always appears as a perfectly round circle. These two characters are generally where most difficulty lies when a master product key is rejected after typing, so analyze the character closely before entering.
- 4). Move the cardboard or paper one character to the right to reveal each until you have entered the last character in the sequence.
