Perhaps you have been interested in finding a stink bug repellent to take care of an infestation in your home, but were't sure where to turn to for answers.
Unfortunately this particular infestation is so recent that there isn't as much help as we would probably like. The good news is that researchers have been working on a new development in a stink bug repellent that could bring relief to people on the east coast of the U.S.
It is being experimented with from a source that comes from the green foxtail plant which can also be found here in the United States. More specifically, it's the fungus that they are looking at that lives inside of the foxtail plant, with a 90% success rate for deterring stink bugs. The only real issue now is that it's still in it's infancy and in the progress of still being
tested and developed.
This may come as a bit of a downer to you, but in the meanĀ time there are some effective things that you can do. Without using pesticides or calling a home exterminator, you canĀ actually take care of the problem yourself.
Step 1 - Getting Rid Of Stink Bugs Without Stink Bug Repellent
In your home alone you might notice large quantaties of stink bugs in certain areas. You should sweep these up and put the sweeper bag into a trash bag and dispose of in this manner.
Stink bugs are most attracted to light. This is very common with many household bugs. You can buy a light lamp that is typically used for flies and ladybugs, but will also work in trapping stink bugs.
Place these, which are inexpensive, around your windows and main lamp sources that could be appealing to stink bugs. Dispose of the contents in the same way that you would do with the trash bag. This will greatly reduce their numbers
Step 2 - Making Your Home Stink Bug Proof
The ultimate way to get rid of stink bugs is from the outside in. When it's warm out, make sure to take the time to do a complete inspection of your outside parameters, and close up any outside gaps that they could get in through.
Then you will want to do this on the inside. This can be done of course even when it's cold out. The best way to determine where stink bugs might be getting in is to look closely at the areas where they have the most population. This is a very good sign that you have an entry way somewhere near by.
