- 1). Download Windows Live Sync. To synchronize multiple computers, you must have a Windows Live ID. If you already have a valid Hotmail, Messenger or Xbox LIVE account, you can use these accounts to sign into Windows Live. After you sign into Windows Live, download Sync onto every device you wish to sync up. Once each device has Sync software, you can access your files from any computer as they will be fully synchronized.
- 2). Sign up for Apple's MobileMe service. If you own an iPhone, you may prefer Apple's sync software, MobileMe, which offers unique features for iPhone users. In addition to synchronizing files, documents and messages, MobileMe also helps you locate your iPhone in case you lose it. If your phone cannot be recovered, the service also offers the ability to wipe the iPhone's memory clean in order to protect your privacy. However, MobileMe is free for only a 60-day trial period after which it costs $99 per year.
- 3). Download Google Sync. Google Sync has a more limited range of features and will only synchronize your calendar, contacts and email (Gmail), but it is free and could be a good choice if these applications are what you mainly wish to sync up anyway. If you already have a Gmail account, you won't need to create a new user name or password and can simply download the application to the devices.
