- 1). Press the "Select" button to enter the menus. This is the green button with the check mark on it. Use the arrow keys to scroll to the "Information" menu. Press the "Select" button to make your selection.
- 2). Use the arrow keys to choose "Print configuration page" and press "Select." Look at the networking section of the configuration page to make sure the printer has a valid IP address. The IP address is expressed as a series of four numbers, each separated by a period; for example, 10.26.80.190. If the printer is not connected to the network, you will see a "disabled" message under the networking section.
- 3). Remove and re-seat the network cable running into the LaserJet 4600DN printer. Re-seat the cable where it connects to the wall plate as well, then print another configuration page. Replace the cable if the network still shows it as disabled. If the network remains disabled after the cord has been replaced, the network card might be faulty.
- 4). Pull the paper tray out of the LaserJet 4600DN and remove all of the paper. Replace half of the paper and then carefully adjust the paper guides. The paper guides in the 4600DN tend to shift while the printer is in use, and this causes the paper to feed in skewed, causing jams. In addition, overfilling the paper tray can cause the printer to grab more than one sheet at a time, and this can also cause jams.
