Instructions for Acer Al2216w

    • 1). Unbox the Acer Al2216w monitor and set it on a stable, flat surface within proximity of the computer or device you intend to use it with.

    • 2). Plug the power cord into the power port on the back of the Acer Al2216w monitor. Plug the other end of the power cord into the nearest wall outlet or, ideally, a surge protector that is itself connected to a wall outlet.

    • 3). Plug the included DVI cable into the DVI port on the back of the Acer Al2216w monitor. The port is white with multiple horizontally placed pinholes. DVI is the digital standard for connecting monitors to computers and other devices.

    • 4). Connect the other end of the DVI cable to the rear DVI port located on your computer or other connecting device. This port looks exactly the same as the DVI port on the back of the Acer Al2216w monitor. Ensure the connection between the two devices is secure and that the plug is not at all loose, as this impairs the transfer of signals.

    • 5). Use a VGA cable to make the connection between the Acer Al2216w monitor and your other device in case the device in question is older and does not support the DVI standard. VGA is an older, analog-based standard that nevertheless works sufficiently. Plug one end of the VGA cable into the blue-labeled VGA port on the back of the Acer Al2216w monitor, and then connect the other end into the identical VGA port on the back of the connecting device.

    • 6). Power on both the Acer Al2216w monitor and your computer device to test the connection and ensure it works. The information being sent from the connecting device should appear flawlessly on the Acer Al2216w monitor.

    • 7). Press a special keyboard command to enable transfer of video from your device to your Acer monitor if you are connecting the monitor to a laptop computer device, specifically. Depending on your laptop, this command is either pressing the Fn + F3, F4, F5, F8 or F9 buttons simultaneously. Refer to your specific laptop's manual or try each combination in turn.

    • 8). Adjust monitor brightness on the Acer Al2216w monitor if necessary. Monitor brightness keys can be found on the bottom face of the Acer Al2216w monitor.
