- 1). Open the user manual for your FTA satellite receiver. The "Information" page should provide the name of a website from which to download programming updates.
- 2). Access your Internet browser and navigate to the website listed in your user manual. Choose your specific receiver model and download the most up-to-date programming file (the issue dates are listed next to the download links).
- 3). Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract." This will load the file extraction application installed on the computer. Click "Next," and the files will begin to extract from the downloaded .zip format.
- 4). Plug a USB data cable into the USB port on the back of the FTA receiver, then insert the opposite end of the cable into a USB port on the computer. Power on the FTA receiver. The computer will state it has detected a new device.
- 5). Click "Start" and "Computer," then double-click the satellite receiver icon. This loads a window that represents the information stored on the receiver. Click-and-drag the downloaded files into the open window to install the programming on the receiver. Do not turn off the receiver or disconnect the USB cable until a prompt appears on your television stating the update has finished.
