Is your computer slowing down and would you like to know how to make it run faster again? There could be quite a few things causing this and it can be quite painful trying to figure out where to start, so here are a few steps to help you fix up those faults really quickly.
When you start up your pc, many of the programs on your computer are loaded into the computer's memory.
Most of them are not being used by you and, unfortunately, they are using a lot of memory and causing your computer to slow down.
Every time these programs are loaded, you computer has to go search in the registry which uses more resources.
What you need here, is a bit of housekeeping on your pc.
The first step is to remove any programs and files that you do not need.
Go to Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP) or Programs And Features (in Windows Vista) to remove them.
Then you should defragment the hard drive.
Your computer comes with software to do this and you can access is by going into Accessories and then System Tools.
You'll see the Disk Defrag option there.
The last step is to clean up the registry.
The more you use your computer and add or remove things, the bigger the registry becomes and the more errors creep into it.
Get yourself a registry cleaner that will check for errors in minutes and fix them with the click of the mouse.
