How to Build a Customized Dell Computer

    • 1). Visit the Dell website (See Resource 1).

    • 2). Point your mouse to the “For Home” or “For Small and Medium Business” option on the Dell web page and then click an appropriate sub-option. Available sub-options include "Laptops & Minis" and "Desktops & All-in-ones" under "For Home," and "Laptops, Netbooks & Tablets" and "Desktops & Workstations" under "For Small and Medium Business."

    • 3). Click the check box before the computer/laptop category name on the left pane of the web page that opens to view all the computers/laptops in that category. For example, on the "Laptops & Mini" web page there are categories of laptops listed on the left pane.

    • 4). Click “Customize” when you have a selected a model to customize.

    • 5). Click the appropriate icon of the computer part you want to customize on the customize web page that opens. Available icons include: "Color," "Operating System," "Processor," "Memory," "Battery," "Hard Drive," "Wireless Cards" and "Integrated Webcam." For example, when you click the "Hard Drive" icon, you will be shown listings of hard drives with different capacity along with their price. Click on a hard drive type to select it.

    • 6). Click “Finished personalization” when you have finished customizing the computer.
