- 1). Turn off the system. Unplug the computer from its power source. Remove all of the cables.
- 2). Put the tower on a table so it is easier to see the inside. Face the back toward you and unfasten the screws down the right side of the metal edge. There are two screws to be unfastened.
- 3). Put the tower on its side and slide off the panel, exposing the inside of the computer.
- 4). Find the memory modules. They will be thin, flat pieces of circuitry that stand on end. If you need to remove one of them, separate the two tabs on each side of the module simultaneously. The module will loosen.
- 5). Slide the module out of the computer.
- 6). Take the new module or modules out of the package. Do not touch the metal edge.
- 7). Find the notches on the new module and match them up with the knobs inside the slot.
- 8). Slide the module straight down into the slot. The clips will fasten to either side of the module. You may hear a small snap when you do this.
- 9). Slide the panel back on the computer. Match up the screw holes on the panel with the holes on the computer tower. Fasten the screws.
- 10
Plug all of the cords and wires back into the machine. Turn on the computer.
