- There are plenty of choices for little-girl hairstyles.Sweet little girl image by Natalja from Fotolia.com
Short and medium hairstyles are two great choices for younger girls. Long hair can work for little girls, but the time and care involved in keeping the longer hair healthy and manageable is substantial. It may be best to keep hair approximately shoulder length or shorter. - Bob hairstyles are a great choice for younger girls because the chin-length style highlights their facial features, and the bob probably will not get tangled during play. A bob is a shorter hair style, cut at or below the chin and all one length. This cut looks good with or without bangs and is easy to style and manage.
- A medium-length straight hairstyle is another choice for younger girls. Medium-length hair falls just below the shoulders. This type of hairstyle is easiest to manage if worn straight down without layers. The style works on most hair types.
- This hairstyle is shorter than the bob, but still works for active little girls. A pixie hairstyle is cut above the ears in the front with a little more length in the back and usually has short bangs. It is easy to manage, style and care for. Shorter styles do require regular haircuts.
- Pigtails work well and can be styled differently. Variations include a French braid, a braid on each side, one single long braid in the back, or two braided buns on each side. This style does take more work than a straight or short hairstyle. Note that placing pigtails too high on the head can cause hair to get caught in objects during play.
