How to Remove Gum From Material

    Vinegar

    • 1). Place a small amount of vinegar in a microwaveable container.

    • 2). Heat the container in the microwave until the vinegar is warm.

    • 3). Dip an old toothbrush (one you aren't going to use again) in the heated vinegar.

    • 4). Scrub the gum off your clothes with the toothbrush.

    • 5). Wash and dry the garment as usual.

    Boiling Water

    • 1). Boil a pot of water on the stove.

    • 2). Place the clothing stuck with gum in the boiling water. Allow the garment to soak.

    • 3). Scrape the gum off carefully with a dull knife.

    • 4). Wash and dry the garment.

    Ice/Freezing

    • 1). Place the garment in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for about one hour. This will allow the gum to freeze and harden, so you can pull pieces off the clothing.

    • 2). Scrape off pieces of the gum carefully with a dull knife.

    • 3). Wash and dry the garment.
