How to Texturize Natural Hair Without Chemicals

    Use a Texturizer

    • 1). Search for a texturizing kit that has natural ingredients. These kits can be found in hair stores, grocery stores or drugstores. Do not purchase any product that has lye in it because it can cause burning to the scalp and damage or breakage to the hair.

    • 2). Refrain from scratching the scalp for at least 24 to 48 hours prior to applying the texturizer. Use a protective coating around the edges of your hair and on your scalp to prevent burning. Part your hair in sections to apply the base on your entire scalp.

    • 3). Part the hair into four sections. Begin to apply the texturizer to the nape of the hair starting with a fourth of the sections. Start the application from the roots of your hair and continue to the tips. Apply the texturizer to the other back quarter of your hair, following with the two front corners.

    • 4). Comb the cream throughout your entire head. Let the texturizer remain in your hair for the instructedtime frame. Rinse the texturizer out of your hair, and then shampoo and condition your hair.

    Use a Non-Lye Containing Perm

    • 1). Search for a perm that has natural ingredients and no lye in it. Use a kid's perm that is less harsh than an adult perm. Ask a licensed cosmetologist where you can find such products. Apply the perm in a similar fashion as you would the texturizer. Remove the perm four times earlier than the instructed amount of time.

    • 2). Refrain from scratching the scalp for at least 24 to 48 hours prior to perming the hair. Use a protective coating around the edges of your hair and on your scalp to prevent burning. Part your hair in sections to apply the base on to your entire scalp.

    • 3). Part the hair into four sections. Do a hair-scan test by perming a small amount of hair near the back of your hair. Refrain from perming your hair if the tested hair falls out. Continue to perm the whole head if the hair does not fall out.

    • 4). Begin to apply the perm to the nape of the hair starting with a fourth of the sections. Start the application from the roots of your hair and continue to the tips. Apply the perm to the other back quarter of your hair, following with the two front corners.

    • 5). Do not comb! Rinse the perm out within five minutes in order to have texturized hair instead of permed hair. Shampoo and condition your hair.
