- Registering for a Zune account requires the Cookies to be enabled. If it gives an error message when trying to do this, delete all cookies and also the Temporary Internet Files (using Internet Options). Try registering again.
- Error messages happen when the Internet Explorer web browser being used with the Zune doesn't have its cookies enabled. Run Internet Explorer and click on "Tools" and then "Internet Options." Click on the "Privacy" tab and move the slider to the "Medium" setting. Close the window and try accessing the Zune marketplace.
- Sign out of the Zune software and shut down the Zune. Then sign out of Windows Live Messenger and any other applications using your Windows Live ID. Clear the cache and cookies, and restart the Zune client. Sign in again.
- Windows Vista Security can disable cookies and cause the Zune to not function correctly when accessing a new account. Correct this by going into the Vista security settings and change them to accept all cookies. Restart the computer.
- It is important that the software on both the computer and the Zune is up to date. Check for updates regularly, and make sure that a full reboot of the computer is done after every update is made. Also make sure that the Zune is fully charged before any update is applied to it.
- An occasional Zune update will cause complications or even break the use of specific functions. Checking with others who use a Zune to see what their experience is like with the update can inform you as to whether there is a cookie problem or something else that is going on.
- "Cookies" serve a definite purpose and disabling them can cause the Zune to malfunction or behave in an incorrect manner.
