How to Back Up Enterprise Manager on a SQL Server

    • 1). Open a server group and expand a server. Open the database of your choice and right-click on it. Select "All Tasks," and then click on "Backup Database."

    • 2). Enter a name and description for your backup within the "Name" and "Description" dialog boxes. Hit "File and Filegroup" beneath "Backup" and click on "Browse."

    • 3). Choose a "Backup" for each file or filegroup you wish to back up within the "Specify Filegroups and Files" pane. Select "Tape" or "Disk" beneath "Destination" and designate the backup location path.

    • 4). Hit "Append to Media" or "Overwrite Existing Media" within the "Overwrite" pane to determine if you want to add your backup to your media or overwrite any information currently on your selected media. Click on the "Schedule" box if you wish to set up your backup for a later time and date or periodically.

    • 5). Select "Verify Backup Upon Completion" or "Eject Tape After Backup" within the "Options" tab if you wish to choose either choice. Click on the "Media Set Name and Backup Set Expiration" box if you wish to prevent accidental overwrites. Enter the name of your media under "Mediasetname."
