- 1). Open Nero and click on "Create and Edit" from the five tabs across the top of the start page. Now click "Author," "Edit" and "Capture Video." This opens up "Nero Vision," the program that will be doing the converting.
- 2). Click on "Make DVD," and then "DVD Video." These are both at the top of their respective menus.
- 3). Add your AVI files by clicking "Add Video Files" and then locating the files on your hard drive.
- 4). Click "Next" and bring up the "Select Menu" screen. Decide on what type of menu you would like from the drop-down box in the top right of the screen.
- 5). Press "Next" again and you are faced with the preview screen. You can ensure that there are no glitches with the aid of a virtual remote control. This is more of an issue if you have done any editing on the clip, but if you just want to burn an AVI, this section might as well be skipped. Press "Next" again to bring up the "Burn Options" screen.
- 6). Click "Burn To" in the top right of the screen to select where you want to burn the file. Select your DVD-R drive. If you want to convert the file and just copy it into a folder, you can do this from here too. Underneath "Burn to" is an option that says "Write to Hard Disk Folder;" select this if you just want to format the clip without putting it on a disc.
- 7). Select "Volume Name" to name your DVD. Once this is done, it is nearly time to write the disc. Before you do, click on "Recording Settings" and select your preferred burn speed. Also, ensure that the "Burn-at-Once" box is unchecked. This will make the process take a bit longer, but is ultimately preferable to having something go wrong during the conversion.
- 8). Locate the "Burn" button in the bottom right of the page and click it when you've finished selecting your settings. The AVI file will now be converted and written onto your blank disk.
