- 1). Plug the mini Hi-Fi system into a household power outlet permanently. This will maintain all of the settings in the future if settings become lost due to power outage. The radio presets, for example, will cancel if the mini Hi-Fi is disconnected from the power for longer than half a day. Other customized settings will also be lost--like the time and wake-up timer.
- 2). Turn the Master Volume knob clockwise or press the button marked "Volume +" on the remote control if there's no sound. Check that there aren't any headphones plugged into the headphone jack and check the speaker connections. There are four speakers and each one should be connected to the control unit with a pair of wires. Place the speakers symmetrically and remember that there is no audio during timer recording.
- 3). Cancel CD Synchro if you can't eject a disc. Ejection isn't possible in CD Synchro recording mode. Press the Stop button to cancel the recording and then the Open/Close button to eject the disc.
- 4). Move the Sony MHC-LX10000 stereo away from other equipment if you hear a hum. It's possible a television or other device is too close and is causing interference. Try a different wall outlet.
- 5). Press "Play Mode" on the remote control repeatedly if playback doesn't start from the first track. The system is in Program Play or Shuffle Play. Keep pressing "Play Mode" until "All Discs", "1Disc" or "Albm" shows up on the display.
- 6). Make sure that any MP3 audio files that you want to play back on the MHC-LX10000 stereo have the file extension "MP3" if audio MP3 files won't play. Other things to look out for playing back MP3s is that the system can only play back to a depth of eight folders within the file hierarchy, and that recording must be performed according to ISO 9660 Level 1 and 2 or Joliet in the expansion format. Try re-recording the discs.
