How to Replace Ink in an Inkjet Cartridge

    • 1). Lay paper towels or rags down to protect your work area.

    • 2). Open the ink cartridge or expose its ink filling holes according to the instructions included in your refill kit. Typically, this involves either peeling back the cartridge label or removing the cap.

    • 3). Fill the syringe provided in the refill kit with ink according to the refill kit instructions.

    • 4). Inject ink slowly into the ink cartridge as directed by the instructions.

    • 5). Wipe off any excess ink.

    • 6). Replace the cartridge's cap if you removed it earlier. Generally, you will not need to replace cartridge labels. Refer to the refill kit instructions for specific directions.

    • 7). Replace the cartridge in the printer.

    • 8). Run a printer cartridge cleaning cycle using your printer management software if directed to do so by the refill kit instructions.
