How to Create Whimsical Edible Favors Using Cookie Cutters

I love using cookie cutters to create festive edible favors that coincide with my party theme or event.
These edible favors are easy to make and the final result is always worth it and the accolades too.
What You Will Need • Prepared pan of uncut brownies • Cookie cutters to be used for your edible favors • Easy Melt Candy, decorating icing and other cake decorating items • Wax or Parchment Paper • Cooling Rack • Angled Spatula • Butter knife • Icing Bag Step One - Baking Prepare your brownies according to the recipe or box instructions.
Tip: Be sure to line your baking dish with parchment or wax paper before pouring the batter into the dish.
The wax/parchment paper will allow for easy removal of your brownies from the baking dish.
Remember, oven temperatures may vary so watch your oven temperature to prevent over baked or under baked brownies.
To test the doneness of your brownies, insert a toothpick into the center.
If the toothpick comes out with a few crumbs attached, your brownies are ready.
If the toothpick comes out coated with batter, your brownies will require additional baking time.
Allow your brownies to cool down to room temperature before cutting.
When your brownies are cool run the tip of a butter knife in between the edges of the brownie cake and the baking dish.
Remove your brownies from the baking dish by placing a plate on top the baking dish and turning the baking dish upside down while holding both the plate and the baking dish.
Your brownies should be resting on the plate.
Wrap your brownies in cellophane and chill for two (2) hours in your freezer.
Please do not skip this step.
Chilling your brownies will make cutting and removing your cutouts much easier.
Step 2 - Using Your Cookie Cutters Unwrap your brownies and place them on a flat surface.
Place your cookie cutter to brownie surface, push straight down and remove the cutter.
Run a knife along the cutout area and remove with an angled spatula.
Place each cut out on your cooling rack.
Step 3 - Decorating Prepare candy melts according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Using an icing bag squeeze the melted candy over your brownie/cake cutouts and evenly distribute using a knife or spatula if needed.
Allow your cutouts to sit for 10 minutes to allow the candy coating to harden.
Once the candy coating has hardened, decorate your whimsical cutouts to your liking using fun items like: icing, sprinkles, and other cake decorations.
A really cute idea is to personalize each favor by writing the name of each guest on a brownie cutout.
You can use a cake decorating icing pen to accomplish this task.
After you're finished decorating your brownie cutouts, use them as place settings.
Place each favor on the dessert plate where each guest will be sitting.
You can also insert each favor in a cellophane bag and tie with decorative ribbon and give them to each guest upon their departure.
