- 1). Click the start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Highlight the "Settings" option in the menu that appears. Select the "Control Panel" option from the list of choices that pop up.
- 2). Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Control Panel window. Select the option that reads "Uninstall Windows 98." Single click to select the "Add/Remove" button, and click "Yes" to allow Windows to scan your hard drive(s) for any errors.
- 3). Click "Yes" when asked if you would like Windows 98 to shut down and finish the uninstall after ScanDisk finishes checking the hard drive(s) for errors. Windows will automatically proceed with the uninstall and remove the operating system from your computer.
