- 1). Remove the food from inside the refrigerator and place it into an ice chest or cooler. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall.
- 2). Remove the shelves, racks and drawers. Clean them with hot water and a mild dish detergent and then rinse with 1 tsp. of chlorine bleach diluted with 1 gallon of warm water. Dry the shelves, racks and drawers thoroughly with a towel.
- 3). Wipe the refrigerator down with warm and soapy water. Remove odors from inside the refrigerator by combing 1 cup of baking soda with 1 gallon of water. Wipe the inside of the refrigerator with the solution and rinse it off with clean water.
- 4). Disinfect the inside of the refrigerator with the diluted bleach solution. Dry the refrigerator thoroughly.
- 5). Replace the shelves, racks and doors inside the refrigerator. Replace the food back into the refrigerator.
- 6). Wash the exterior of the refrigerator with warm and soapy water. Disinfect the exterior including the handles with the diluted bleach solution and dry the fridge thoroughly.
