- 1). Measure the area of the bathroom to determine how many pieces of cove molding will need to be installed. Calculate the total footage and add 10 percent. Purchase the correct amount of molding at a local hardware store.
- 2). Lay the first piece of cove molding along the wall to ensure it will fit properly. If necessary, cut the molding with a utility knife to size. Set the molding upside down on the floor and apply adhesive to the back of the first piece. Spread out the adhesive with a notched trowel. The entire back side should be completely covered. Use a little less adhesive on the ends of the pieces and along the top and bottom edges to prevent adhesive from squirting out onto the wall above or below the molding.
- 3). Push the first piece against the wall and hold firmly in place with one hand on each side. Run your hands along the entire piece to ensure it is secure against the wall. Line up the second piece. Repeat this procedure until you reach a corner.
- 4). Cut the molding with a utility knife to fit around the corner. Repeat the same procedure around the entire base of the bathroom.
- 5). Caulk over the seams with clear silicone caulk. Begin at one end of the room and work around to the other, caulking up the gaps where two pieces of cove molding bump together. Allow the caulk proper time to dry.
