How to Make a Fondant Onesie

    • 1). Draw a Onesie onto card stock with a pencil. Include the arms, the dip in the neckline and the curved-in leg holes.

    • 2). Cut out the Onesie with scissors. This is your template.

    • 3). Roll a 1/8-inch thick layer of fondant onto a silicone cutting mat with a fondant roller. A regular rolling pin can work in a pinch, but coat it lightly with a layer of shortening followed by a dusting of flour.

    • 4). Lay the Onesie template over the fondant and trace the edges lightly with a stylus, just enough to mark the outline shape on the fondant. Remove the template.

    • 5). Cut along the traced lines with a paring knife to cut out the Onesie.

    • 6). Add stitching detail to the surface of the Onesie by making 1/16-inch dashes around the leg holes, sleeves and neckline with a stylus.

    • 7). Trace a solid, curved line from the inside edge of one leg hole to the inside edge of the other leg hole with your stylus to create the buttoned strip of fabric that fastens between a baby's legs.

    • 8). Draw three small circles with your stylus, spaced evenly apart just below the curved line, to make the three buttons that hold the strip of fabric.
