How to Replace the Battery in a Sidewinder Remote

    • 1). Grip the key firmly on both ends and pull the ends apart with force. If you cannot pull them apart, work a small flat-head screwdriver into the seam and twist it until the two halves separate.

    • 2). Insert the key blade into the seam on the remote half of the key, which is indicated by having the part number and manufacturing date on it. Twist the key blade until the remote half separates into two parts. Use the small flat-head screwdriver if the key blade does not work.

    • 3). Pop the battery out of the remote with the small flat-head screwdriver. Put in the new battery with the unmarked side facing up. Snap the separated remote halves back into place. Then snap the two halves of the key back into place.
