- 1). Turn on your computer and insert the Vista installation disc. The disc will load and display an "Install Windows" page.
- 2). Click "Install Now" on the initial installation page.
- 3). Download updates from the "Get important updates for installation" page. If you aren't connected to the Internet, skip this step.
- 4). Enter the Windows product key. This is a 25-character key located on the case your Windows Vista disc came in.
- 5). Read through the license terms and click the "I accept the license terms" link.
- 6). Select "Custom" when you encounter the installation type page.
- 7). Click "Next" if you don't have a current operating system installed on your computer and Windows Vista is installed. If you want to install Vista on an existing partition, click on the partition and then click "Next."
