What Is Windows Hot Fix?

    Hot Fix Targets

    • Hot fixes are updates released to fix a problem only a subset of users may be affected by. They are targeted specifically towards these users and should not be used by users not experiencing the bug or error.

    Cumulative Updates

    • Hot fixes are often a package of multiple cumulative updates. A hot fix may fix multiple related issues that are causing the targeted problem.

When to Use a Hot Fix

    • Hot fixes should only be used if you have the latest service packs. The hot fix may already be included in a previous service pack, or may only be compatible with the Windows installation if the latest service packs are installed.
