How to Send a Big File or Folder Via Email

    • 1). Upload your file to an FTP server. You may have access to an FTP server via your company or even using your personal website. Make the file publicly accessible if it doesn't contain sensitive information, or create a guest login for the recipient if the file requires security.

    • 2). Use a service such as YouSendIt. You upload the file on the YouSendIt website and are provided with a link and the option to send the link to one or more recipients. YouSendIt includes a free plan for occasional users with a 50 MB per file limit and a 2 GB total storage limit.

    • 3). Use an online storage solution such as Dropbox. Dropbox includes a free account with a 2GB limit. Upload your file there and use the online interface to get a download link for the recipient. Email them the download link for the file. File size is only limited by the size of your account.
