- 1). Set out the gear to be carried in the Pelican case. Place the foam pieces next to the case and gear.
- 2). Cut out the foam so the gear nests inside it. Cut out pieces of foam as necessary so the gear is surrounded by the shock-absorbing foam. Trim the foam pieces so they rest snugly against the inside of the case. Pack the foam and gear into the case so the gear is completely guarded by the modified foam chunks.
- 3). Inspect the seams. Open the case and inspect the seams along the edges. If there are no black rubber gaskets on the seams, purchase the appropriate-sized gaskets from Pelican. Push the gaskets into the seams and then open and close the case several times to set them deep into the edges. This creates a waterproof barrier for the case.
- 4). Add a combination lock or padlock to the lock hinge on many of the larger Pelican cases. This added lock provides extra security to the cases.
