- 1). Turn on the hot water in the shower and allow the bathroom to fill with steam.
- 2). Lay the suede lacings over a hanger. Do not overlap the lacings or the steam will not be able to penetrate the surface.
- 3). Place the hanger on the back of the bathroom door and shut the door.
- 4). Allow the lacings to hang for 10 to 15 minutes in the steam.
- 5). Shut off the shower and leave the door to the bathroom shut to retain the steam.
- 6). Pinch one end of the suede lacing with one hand and lightly run the fingers of your other hand along the lacing. Keep a constant tension on the lacing. The steam increases the pliability of the lacing, allowing you to smooth the folds.
- 7). Lay the suede lacing on a flat surface to dry. Do not work with lacing while it is damp because it will shrink as as it dries.
- 1). Turn on the iron and select a warm, not hot, setting without steam. Allow the iron to warm for a few minutes to reach its maximum temperature.
- 2). Place a cotton dish towel on a flat surface or ironing board and lay a single suede lacing on top.
- 3). Place another cotton dish towel over the lacing. Dish towels work best because they are thinner than bath towels, allowing the heat to pass through the fabric faster while still reducing the amount of direct heat on the leather.
- 4). Lay the iron over the lacing and press down firmly. Drag the iron along the suede lacing, working from one end to the other in a slow, smooth motion.
- 5). Repeat the above step as many times as necessary until the suede lacing is straight.
