- 1). Purchase a red sweat suit with long sweatpants and a long sleeved sweatshirt. Cut out a piece of gray felt that covers the entire front of the sweatshirt, except the arms.
- 2). Pin the gray felt piece to the front of the sweatshirt. Use a needle and gray thread to sew the gray piece of felt to the front of the sweatshirt, removing the pins along the way.
- 3). Draw a pattern of a 3-inch-wide by 5-inch-long spike on a piece of thick card stock paper. Use scissors to cut the pattern out.
- 4). Lay a sheet of white felt on top of another sheet of white felt. Using a pencil, trace the spike pattern over the top layer of felt, fitting as many spikes that will fit on the felt sheet. Insert a sewing pin in the middle of each felt spike to hold the top layer of felt to the bottom layer and cut the spikes out. Repeat this step until 16 double-layer spikes have been cut out.
- 5). Pin around the edges of the spikes to hold the pieces of felt together. Use a needle and white thread to stitch along the pins, removing the pins along the way. Leave the base of the spike unstitched. Flip the spikes inside out to hide the seams. Stuff the spikes with craft stuffing. Use a needle and white thread to stitch the base of the spikes closed.
- 6). Pin three spikes to each side of the neck of the red sweatshirt. Use a sewing needle and red thread to sew the spikes to the sweatshirt, removing the pins along the way. Pin two spikes to each side of the waist of the sweatshirt. Use a sewing needle and red thread to sew the spikes to the sweatshirt, removing the pins along the way.
- 7). Fold the 1/2-yard red felt piece in half and use a pencil to draw a flat and wide tail. Insert a few sewing pins into the top and bottom layer of felt to keep the pieces together. Cut the tail out.
- 8). Pin the edges of the tail with sewing pins and use a needle and red thread to stitch along the pins. Remove the pins along the way. Leave about 6 inches at the base of the tail unstitched. Flip the tail inside out to hide the seams. Stuff the tail with craft stuffing. Stitch up the opening with a sewing needle and red thread.
- 9). Instruct the costume wearer to try on the costume. Pin the tail to the bottom of the sweatshirt. Use a needle and red thread to stitch the tail on, removing the pins along the way.

Pin three white spikes to either side of the tail. Use a sewing needle and white thread to stitch the spikes to the tail. Remove the pins along the way. - 11
Create a pattern for a 2-inch-wide and 4-inch-long claw on a piece of thick card stock paper. Use scissors to cut the pattern out. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to create 14 white felt claws. Pin a claw to the fingers of the red winter gloves, excluding the thumb. Use a needle and white thread to sew the claws to the fingers of the gloves. - 12
Use a hot glue gun to glue three white felt claws to the toes of two red canvas shoes. Set the shoes aside to dry completely. - 13
Spray a bike helmet with red spray paint. Set aside to dry. Cut out four red rectangle craft foam strips, 3 inches wide and 6 inches long. Use a hot glue gun to attach the foam strips to the top of a the red bike helmet, standing erect. - 14
Detail the costume by painting black lines around the knees, back and hands with black puffy paint. Refer to photos of Groudon for details of the black lines. Set the costume aside to allow the puffy paint to dry completely.
