Wedding anniversaries are supposed to be shared together, remembering the day that two became one and all the memories that followed. Unfortunately with careers and traveling schedules, couples might not always be together on that special day. Don't let distance stop you from celebrating the life you have created together. - Put together a package of items that will remind your loved one of that special day. Make two copies of your wedding video or create a digital slideshow using the music played at your wedding and the pictures that were taken. Leave one copy of the show for yourself and send one to your loved one. Make a date to watch the video or slideshow together. Talk about the memories the images and sounds evoke. If your loved one has access to the Internet, set up a webcam on both your computers so you can share the experience. Order the traveler some room service and make the same meal for yourself. Have dinner and a movie together, digitally.
- Don't let the miles between you stop you from showering your loved one with treats. Indulge him with an upgrade to his room or breakfast in bed. Send a package to her location or hotel room, filled with some of her favorite candies, magazines or a new novel. Set him up with a tee time at the nearest golf course. Book her a massage at a local spa. Think of something special that your spouse might not normally purchase or partake in and set it up. Don't forget to celebrate for yourself at home. Go to the spa, golf course or a nice restaurant. You too should celebrate and indulge.
- Instead of focusing on the negativity of being apart on your anniversary, emphasize the positive energy of your plans to be together again. Whether it is next week or next year, focus on your reunion. Purchase tickets to an event or vacation. You might buy plane tickets and reserve a hotel room or you might get admission to an amusement park or zoo. Send a calendar page with the date of the event or events circled. Write a cryptic message such as "Guess what we are doing this day!" Add little clues to the package, such as a keychain, magazine related to the area, or part of an outfit you might need, such as a ski cap and scarf or towel and swimsuit. Enjoy the laughter and excitement that builds as your spouse tries to guess where you will be going.
